G'day!

Steer Clear of Killing Words

Steer Clear of Killing Words

Discouraging words can kill. Sure, you might not drop dead on the spot, but they kill you on the inside. Your heart and your dreams and your courage die a little bit when someone says you’re no good.

Don’t take them into your heart. Refuse them at your head level. If needed, check out with a trusted bloke, to see if you need to deal further with any hard, discouraging words.

One way to deflect a killing word can be to think about a turbocharged word you’ve received another time. Instead of letting it smash your heart, remind yourself of a positive thing that someone else has said about you. This can also help encourage you when you are facing a challenge like asking a girl on a date or asking the boss for a raise! It can help make you stronger against the possible killing word that may come.

Sadly, some people say killing words to make themselves feel superior. Let all killing words aimed at you go through to the keeper. Receive empowering words and encouragement.

And try not to be a person who gives killing words. Think before you speak. Are you about to kill someone’s dream or break their heart?
