Listen and cruise!

When I started my business, I loved my truck. I could sit on 100kph fully loaded. Away I’d go, trying to get one extra load each day and going so hard I was pumping. And then my old truckie mates told me to get smart and drive to a plan. You get most of the lights and you use less fuel when you’re driving smart.

All I had to do was listen to those very experienced blokes and take it in. Know the lanes that don’t pull you up all the time. No ripping, tearing and starting. Just cruise. Less fuel, less wear on the clutch and brakes, by just backing off at the right times.

I could do the same number of loads with less stress and get out at the end of the day as cool as a cucumber. They were offering me the benefit of their many years on the road. I just had to listen and take it in.

I had to keep the ears open.
