Getting free of the past
So, how do we right those wrongs from the past? Jesus died to set you free of all that crap to give you a clean and new heart, to be able to love and be loved. Does our society say that happens? No. Do I know it happens? Yes, because I’ve seen it.
If bitterness and hatred and unforgiveness are eating you out, ask yourself: ‘Do I have a talk to the Big Fella about this?’ You don’t have to tell anyone else you’re doing it. For a long time, I talked to God privately. Back then, I would have hated to think that anyone knew I was talking to God! (It’s not like that now…!)
Why not try it for yourself? Have a red-hot talk to the Big Fella and say, ‘Show me what’s my hang up. What’s screwing me up?’
Afterwards, you will see things you hadn’t thought about before. Then you can ask him to take whatever it is and give you freedom. You can continue to become the real-deal champion. You won’t spit the dummy. You’ll see it through to the champion team.
You might have heard of the Lord’s Prayer that’s been said down through the ages. It’s a Christian prayer the Big Fella gave everyone to pray to him. It says ‘forgive us as we forgive others’. The blueprint is for us to do the forgiving first, and then we can be free.
If you don’t believe God is for real, have a deep, deep think about your past and see what comes to the front of your mind. Have a really good look at it. Somehow or other you’re going to have to let it go. Write it down and do your best to let it go forever out of your head and your heart and your spirit.
As I was able to let go of my sadness, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness and judgemental attitudes, the other person also was able to change. It wasn’t a competition any more, or trying to get square. It was freedom!
How much easier for me to function in other areas of my life, when my head was happier and free of this hatred and bitterness!
I could have let my attitude kill my dreams and eat out my happiness if I had held onto this stuff. I chose to let my Creator do another inside job on my turbocharged heart and soul, so my head could let go of the resentment that was burning me up.
